The Bullard FFA chapter recognized members during it annual banquet May 8 in the Elementary School Cafeteria.
The new slate of officers was named, judging teams were honored for their advancement to state competition and individual awards were presented.
The Middle School’s One Day Without Shoes project raised $306 to purchase shoes. According to Meagan Brown, MS English teacher, the funds along with help from Tyler’s Racquet & Jog allowed the group to purchase 11 pairs of TOMS.
With TOMS’ one-for-one mission, the MS students were able to give shoes to 22 children. The TOMS will be given to the Bullard Mission House for distribution.
Ms. Brown said, “We want to thank our wonderful administration and superintendent for allowing us to go barefoot for a day to raise awareness for children around the world. Thank you for making a difference.”
Kayla McPherson walked away with a first in headline writing with perfect score, qualifying her for the state contest.
McPherson also took 5th in news writing, Jesse Ives was 5th in ready writing, Falyn LeBlanc was 6th feature writing and Stanley Gore was 7th in social studies.
