School Board Recognition Month

January is School Board Recognition Month, and Bullard ISD is celebrating its trustees' dedication and commitment to district students and staff.

The theme of this year's School Board Recognition Month—"Forward, Together"—highlights the collaboration among school leaders, teachers, and parents on behalf of students.

"We are excited to recognize the efforts of our Board of Trustees because of all the hard work they put into making Bullard ISD a success," Superintendent Dr. Jack Lee said. "Our students and staff are fortunate to have this wonderful team of seven volunteers who have such big hearts and care so much about their success."

Throughout the past 12 months, trustees have helped pass a record-breaking $103 million bond that will impact several areas, including the construction of a new middle school campus to hold 6th through 8th grades, renovating the existing middle school campus to serve 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades, a new addition connecting the Elementary and Primary campuses to become one campus for Pre-K through 2nd grades, a new baseball, softball, and tennis complex, and a new indoor multipurpose facility.

In addition to the projects above, Trustees also approved funds to purchase state-of-the-art technology programs and equipment to foster 21st-century learning, update the district's transportation fleet by purchasing ten new school buses, and improve safety procedures and facilities across the district.

Dan Troxell, executive director of the Texas Association of School Boards, applauded the efforts of Trustees across the state in providing leadership and good governance so that school districts can focus on educating the 5.4 million public schoolchildren in their care.

"Texas school boards are critical to the success of students and the future of Texas," Troxell said. "Boards lead their districts in the right direction, providing oversight, setting goals, overseeing the budget, and selecting and evaluating the superintendent. These volunteers serve for the betterment of their local schools and communities."
