  • HISTORY
The Bullard Independent School District (Bullard ISD) Board of Trustees established the Bullard ISD Police Department in March of 2017 with a Chief of Police with primary responsibility for the Bullard High School.  As of November 2021, the department has grown to three full-time officers, with future growth planned in line with district growth rates.  At the present time, the Chief of Police also serves as the Director of Safety with responsibility for the district’s emergency management planning.

    MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Bullard Independent School District Police Department is to Serve the community by upholding the Constitution of the United States by enforcing Federal, State and Local laws; to Protect the fundamental rights of all students and staff, and secure all district facilities to create a safe and secure learning environment; and to Educate our students and staff to empower them to embrace their future as productive citizens of society.  We strive to utilize technology, qualified personnel and a proactive policing approach to foster relationships to prevent criminal activity, bullying or cyberbullying in our schools.

    JURISDICTION
The Bullard ISD Police Department's jurisdiction includes all the geographical territory within the contiguous boundaries of the District (https://www.bullardisd.net/Page/1115), as well as any property outside the District that is owned, leased, or otherwise under the control of the Board of Trustees.

Bullard ISD recognizes and values the importance of a safe and secure educational environment both on and off our campuses. As such, BISD officers are assigned to our Early Childhood/Primary/Elementary, Intermediate/Middle and High School campuses.  Our Department is committed to an environment that fosters a partnership with parents and the freedom for our entire BISD community to maximize the potential of each learner.

    AUTHORITY
Bullard ISD Police Officers assigned to our campuses are state-certified commissioned peace officers.  Bullard ISD Police Officers have the same authority and responsibilities as municipal officers in that they have the ability to issue citations, make arrests, respond to calls for service, and document incidents that transpire in and around property owned by Bullard ISD.

    COLLABORATION
Our campus police officers work collaboratively with school administrators and district personnel to protect life, property, and to prevent personal victimization.  Our officers are committed to creating a safe learning and working environment for our students, faculty, and staff.

    SAFETY & SECURITY
Our Campus officers are also responsible for many other aspects of campus security and law enforcement to include crime prevention, education, criminal investigation, emergency preparedness, asset protection, video surveillance, and building access control.  In an effort to provide the safest learning environment possible BISD officers will continually train and commit to the most proactive, innovative, and effective law enforcement practices the industry has to offer.

    INTEGRATION OF RESPONSE
BISD Campus Officers not only serve as “First Responders” on campus but also respond to any peripheral threats within the immediate vicinity that may compromise the overall safety of any BISD campus community.  BISD Police Department Officers work seamlessly with our fellow officers at the Bullard Police Department, as well as all of the law enforcement agencies at the local, state, and federal levels serving the community of Bullard, Texas.
