• What is Bullard ISD's mask policy?

    Governor Abbott’s executive order prohibits school districts from requiring masks on school district property. Therefore, facemasks are optional for Bullard ISD students and staff. However, face coverings are recommended per recent CDC masking guidelines.

  • Do exposed students and staff have to quarantine this school year?

    Per TEA guidelines, exposed individuals who are not symptomatic do not need to quarantine. Individuals who are symptomatic must stay home for 5 days from symptom onset, are fever-free for 24 hours without the use of medications, and have improving symptoms; OR receive a negative test.

  • Will my student be counted absent if I keep them home due to exposure?

    Since TEA guidance does not require quarantining for exposed individuals who are asymptomatic, students will be counted absent as per the usual attendance policy. Symptomatic students cannot return to school and will be counted absent until the return to school criteria are met.

  • What will the school do if a student exhibits symptoms of COVID-19?

    If a student displays symptoms of COVID-19, the school nurse will conduct a clinical evaluation to determine if the symptoms are consistent with COVID-19. Symptoms consistent with COVID-19 are defined as a new onset of at least two of the following symptoms: fever or chills, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea OR new onset of at least one of the following symptoms: cough, shortness of breath, or difficulty breathing.

    If a nurse determines that the student is displaying symptoms consistent with COVID-19, the student will be sent home. Students with symptoms consistent with COVID-19 must quarantine until:

    • at least 5 days have passed since symptom onset;
    • fever-free for 24 hours without the use of medication;
    • the individual’s symptoms have improved;

    OR

    • the individual receives a negative test (proof of negative test required); or
    • a physician identifies the individual’s symptoms as something other than COVID-19 (doctor’s note confirming that the doctor reached an alternative diagnosis required).

  • What are the cleaning procedures after an individual is sent home due to COVID-19 symptoms?

    If a student or staff is removed from a classroom due to a positive test or they exhibit COVID-19 symptoms, other students in the room will be relocated and the room will be properly disinfected. Students will then be able to come back to the classroom to continue learning.

  • Does an employee who has to stay home after testing positive for COVID-19 have to use their leave?

    Yes. As with other illnesses, employees will be required to use their accrued sick or personal leave, or request a leave of absence through the Human Resources department. Please contact the Bullard ISD Human Resources department with questions.

  • Will staff be doing temperature and screening checks for themselves and students?

    Staff will be required to self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms prior to reporting to work each day. Parents/guardians are expected to screen their students for COVID-19 symptoms each day prior to sending their students to school. Teachers will monitor students and refer them to the nurse if symptoms are present.
