  • Are Bullard ISD Police Officers REAL Police Officers?

    Yes. All Bullard ISD PD Officers are licensed peace officers. They are certified by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.

  • Is the Bullard ISD Police Department open 24 hours a day?

    No. The Bullard ISD Police Department hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. Our officers work campus events and district athletic events after normal business hours.  After hours and weekend emergencies are forwarded to the Bullard Police Department (BPD) through a Memorandum of Understanding.  The BPD will then contact the on-call BISD Police Department Officer for resolution.

  • Can Bullard ISD Police Officers make arrests off campus?

    Yes. They have statewide authority to make arrests both on and off-campus.

  • What role do district Police Officers play in school discipline?

    None. Police officers are not disciplinarians and should not be used as such.  Our role is to investigate violations of law and ordinances in accordance with the authority and power specified by Board Policy.  While police actions/classifications may result in the assignment of disciplinary consequence, discipline is the responsibility of the campus administrators.

  • What is the jurisdiction of the Bullard ISD Police Department?

    Board Policy CKE (LOCAL) specifies this jurisdiction as: “...all territory within District boundaries, as well as all real and personal property outside the boundaries of the District that is owned, leased, or rented by the District, or is otherwise under the District’s control.”  Education Code 37.081(a).

  • Can a Bullard ISD Police Officer issue a traffic ticket?

    Yes. Bullard ISD Police Officers are authorized to issue traffic citations. Bullard ISD Officers may monitor speed in school zones using radar, on or off school property.

  • What court do I go to if I get a ticket?

    A: Tickets issued by Bullard ISD Police Officers are adjudicated in either the Municipal Court in the City of Bullard or in the Justice of the Peace Courts in Cherokee and Smith County.  The Officer issuing the citation will provide the court information to you at the time of the citation.

  • What happens if I don't pay my ticket?

    A: If you do not appear in court or pay your fine, the court may issue a warrant for your arrest. Any police officer may arrest you once the warrant is issued.

    Call the officer directly at his/her campus. If you do not receive a call-back by the end of the business day, please call the Bullard ISD Police Department at (903) 894-2871 and ask for the Chief of Police.

  • Can Bullard ISD PD Officers work outside police extra jobs not affiliated with the Bullard ISD?

    Yes. Outside extra jobs go through an administrative review and departmental approval process. You may frequently see BISD Police Officers in a BISD police department uniform working events outside our primary jurisdiction such as traffic control, community events, churches, restaurants, movie theaters, and sporting events.
